History |
The
Irish Amatuer Gymnastics
Association was founded
in 1964 and affiliated
to the Internataionl
Gymnastics Federation
(FIG) in 1976. We
affiliated to the
Olympic Council of
Ireland (OCI) in 1979.
In 1996, Barry MacDonald
became the first and
only Irish Gymnast
to compete at an Olympics
when he performed
at the Atlanta Games.
In 1998, IAGA adopted
Trampolining and Sports
Aerobics as disciplines.
In 1999, IAGA and
ISAF (Irish Sports
Acrobatics Federation)
merged to create a
new body: Irish Gymnastics.
