| IRELANDS TEAM SELECTED FOR THE WORLD ACROBATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS, GLASGOW 2008 |

|
After three hard trials throughout the summer, only six gymnasts (all in the 11-16 Age Group competition) survived to compete in the final trial that took place in Carlow on Sunday 10th August. These gymnasts included two women’s pairs from the Carlow gymnastics club; Grace Miller and Anya Farrell, Sara Rennick and Tricia Sloyan and one pair from the Ballincollig gymnastics club; Alison Hayes and Leigh Lehane
With only two places available on the team, and three very talented women’s pairs, the competition was extremely tight throughout the trials. The final results however saw the cork pair Alison and Leigh taking the top spot, with the highest overall score from the three trials. Sara and Tricia from Carlow managed to take the second spot. While Grace and Anya, also from Carlow, were bitterly disappointed not to get selected, their performance in their final trial was very impressive, securing them an automatic place on the Irish team that will travel to a prestigious international competition in Prague in November.
