| Tumblers qualify for finals at junior Euros |
|
The Irish tumbling team has somersaulted their way into fifth place at the junior European tumbling championships and will compete in the team finals tonight in Bulgaria.
Gillian Clarke (16), Jennifer Ryan (15), Jessica McFadden (13) and Natasha Nolan (13), all from Millenium tumbling club, are set to take on Europe's top competitors tonight in Varna.
Gillian Clarke placed 5th in the qualification stages to gain a much deserved place in the individual finals. The top eight competitors progress to the finals.
Coach, Craig Filmer, said: "I'm delighted with the team. I'm delighted with them landing all their runs. We are looking to up the tariff of the team to fight for a medal placing in finals."
The team had to overcome many obstacles to make it to the event. But flight cancellations and lost luggage didn't put them off their game.
They compete against Russia, Great Britain, Ukraine and Poland tonight.
