Coach Education Update
Gymnastics Ireland has now entered a new cycle of education for our coaching education programme, Coach Education Cycle 4 (2017 – 2020). The education programme will continue to outline clear pathways for coaching development and provide recognised qualifications for coaches, teachers, students, parents and volunteers at all levels from participation to elite performance.
As we update, develop and enhance our existing programme in Cycle 4, additional costs will be incurred for Gymnastics Ireland. These include an increase in our license agreement fee with British Gymnastics in order to deliver our discipline-specific courses. Consequentially, our course prices have changed in this cycle.
After a close review of our GymSTART coaching courses, we have determined that it would be beneficial to increase the number of practical coaching hours to incorporate more skills at both the Level 1 and 2 coaching courses. This increase in course times will factor into our new course prices for this cycle.
Gymnastics Ireland will implement the following course prices for Cycle 4 (2017 – 2020)
GymSTART Coaching Course Prices:
- GymSTART Level 1: 2 Day Course (14 hours) = €200 (An increase of 2 hours practical coaching time)
- GymSTART Level 2: 4 Day Course + Assessment (28 hours) = €430 (An increase in 4 hours practical course time and also a change to - 1 day theory and 3 days practical)
Discipline Specific Course Prices:
- Level 1: 3 Day Course + Assessment (24 hours) = €380
- Level 2: 5 Day Course + Assessment (40 hours) = €590
Further Coach Education Developments
Level 3 Coaching Courses - As we progress through the start of this cycle, Gymnastics Ireland will roll our new high performance Level 3 coaching courses across all disciplines in the new National Gymnastics Training Centre at the National Indoor Arena. Course details and dates will soon be advertised on the Gymnastics Ireland website.
GymSTART - We will be introducing a new GymSTART coaching module geared towards parents, club volunteers, teachers and young coaches. We envisage this new 1 day coaching module as a great starting point on a coaching pathway for candidates with no previous gymnastics participation or coaching experience. Module details and dates will soon be advertised on the Gymnastics Ireland website.
Inclusion/Disabilities - As Gymnastics Ireland is an inclusive National Governing Body, we aim to introduce a new Inclusion/ Disabilities Programme to qualify coaches to safely deliver mainstream gymnastics sessions including people with a physical or learning disability, sensory impairment or other health conditions. Programme details to be announced shortly.
