Discipline Specific Coaching Courses
Gymnastics Ireland now offers discipline specific coaching courses as part of our new coaching Cycle 4 (2017 – 2020). Each course is quality assured and awarded by Sport Ireland Coaching and will operate across all disciplines starting at Level 1.
The courses will provide coaches with discipline specific qualifications in order to develop high performance standards, focusing on skill/technique development and planning, methodology, sports science knowledge and physical preparation. Coaches will also have the opportunity to transfer between courses after completing a Level 1 in a specific discipline.
Women's Artistic (WAG)
Level 1
The WAG Level 1 course is the first level of coaching qualification on the discipline specific, coaching pathway which is quality assured and awarded by Coaching Ireland. The course is delivered over 3 days (2 weekends) along with an assessment day and is ideal for coaches already coaching in a club setting.
Level 2
The WAG Level 2 Coach qualification is the second level on the Gymnastics Ireland coaching qualification structure. The holders of this qualification may assume responsibility for an individual, group, class or club when coaching skills within the syllabus.
Level 3
The WAG Level 3 coaching qualification is the third level on the Gymnastics Ireland coaching qualification structure. The holders of this qualification may assume responsibility for an individual, group, class or club when coaching skills within the syllabus. The course is made up of theory and four technical modules which together make up the complete WAG Level 3 qualification. In order to be awarded the complete WAG Level 3 qualification you are required to pass assessments on all four of the practical technical modules, and the Level 3 coaching theory.
The Level 3 coaching theory qualification has been designed to provide you with the skills and understanding to support participants through a competition training cycle. Throughout the course you will develop the skills to evaluate, analyse and implement a training plan using a wide range of tools.
Each of the WAG Level 3 technical modules will cover the technical aspects of the syllabus and how to support progress and physically prepare participants for the skills covered within the syllabus. Please click on the following links for further course information.

Level 2
The Trampoline Coach qualification is the second level on the Gymnastics Ireland trampoline coaching qualification structure. The holders of the GI Level 2 Trampoline qualification may assume responsibility for an individual, group, class or trampoline club when coaching skills within the syllabus. The course is delivered over 5 days (3 weekends) along with an assessment day and is applicable to coaches holding a previous Introductory or Apprentice level qualification or a current Level 1 Trampoline qualification.
