1st European Championships outing for Ryan

2nd June 2016, 00:00a.m. | International

Our Junior Woman, Meg Ryan, from Douglas Gymnastics Club in Cork, was in action on Wednesday at the 2016 European Artistic Championships. It was Meg’s first outing at a European Championships and she performed very well in front of a strong crowd at the Post Finance arena. Meg performed solidly throughout the rotations but it was her Vault score of 13.000 that helped her to a fine All Around score of 46.766.

Supporting her onsite were family and friends and the Gymnastics Ireland Delegation, which included the Gymnastics Ireland CEO, Ciaran Gallagher, who had this to say about Meg’s debut on the European Championships stage.

It was great to see Meg step out today onto the European podium for the first time. Her 18th place finish on vault is without doubt a highlight and it is clear there is much more to come  from this talented junior. Congratulations to her coach Emma Hammil & the team at Douglas Gymnastics Club in addition to National Performance Coach Sam James & Performance & Technical Manager Sally Filmer.

Today it’s the turn of the Senior Women to take to the floor and our two gymnasts Ellis O’Reilly (Renmore Gymnastics Club, Galway) and Casey Bell (Salto Gymnastics Club, Lisburn) are in action in Subdivision II which takes place this afternoon at 12pm local time.
