2017 European Youth Olympic Festival in Hungary-Wrap Up

26th July 2017; Olympic Park, Gyor, Hungary: Irish Gymnasts Meg Ryan, Emma Slevin and Jane Heffernan performed to crowds un-phased and focused at the Olympic Park at the EYOF.  It was the third day of this prestigious event where our Women’s Artistic gymnasts competed against the best youth gymnasts in Europe. 

The girls hit a team total of 95.550 to secure 18thplace.  Cork’s Meg Ryan was the top Irish performer with an all-around score of 48.050, while also placing 18th on vault. Meg's team mates Emma Slevin and Jane Heffernan scored 46.950 and 44.00 All-Around respectively.

Speaking of the achievement Gymnastics Ireland CEO Mr. Ciaran Gallagher said “Our girls performed very well among the best in Europe. This is the first step on the Olympic competitive pathway and gives our gymnasts experience of what it would be like at a multi-sport event such as the Olympic Games. It really is a superb achievement for all 3 girls to have been part of Team Ireland at this early stage in their competitive careers”.
