Rhythmic National Championships for Novice 1 and 2, Acrobatics National Team Trophy & Men's Artistic Levels 1-3 Floor, Vault and PPP Competition - Wrap Up

2nd & 3rd Dec 2017; National Indoor Arena, Dublin: The tenth National Series competition was held this weekend in the National Indoor Arena and over 500 gymnasts took part in the Rhythmic National Championships for Novice 1 and 2, Acrobatics National Team Trophy & Men's Artistic Levels 1-3 Floor, Vault and PPP Competition. Over 1000 spectators were on hand to show their support.

The excitement was added to on Saturday evening when live news came in that Mairead Kavanagh has been elected to the UEG Women’s Technical Committee as Ireland’s first technical official to hold a position on a European or world gymnastics governing body.

Fans and gymnasts were able to watch FIG level acrobatics routines during the afternoon session on Sunday. The highlight results for FIG National Acrobatics Team Trophy were as follows… 

  • 11-16 age group - 1st place Gymstars
  • 11-16 age group - 2nd place Ballincollig
  • 11-16 age group - 3rd place Excel
  • 12-18 age group - 1st place Ballincollig
  • 12-18 age group - 2nd place Wexford
  • 12-18 age group - 3rd place Excel

Attention now shifts to the 10th Dec when we will host the second GymSTART Challenge of 2017 in the University of Limerick Sports Arena. If you would like to come and watch keep an eye on our website for spectator information next week!
