Team Ireland bank impressive medal haul at 2017 Northern European Apparatus Finals

22nd Oct 2017, The Faroe Islands; Two Irish Gymnasts claimed gold, silver and bronze today in the Apparatus Finals at the 2017 Northern European Championships in the Faroe Islands. Adam Steele hit 13.500 to claim gold on Parallel Bars, 13.400 for silver on Pommel Horse & 12.750 for bronze on High Bar with his team-mate Daniel Fox taking bronze on Rings with a score of 13.425. Two Irish women also competed in the Finals with Meghan Smith hitting 12.350 on Floor placing just outside the medals in 4th place and Megan Ryan hitting 12.725 for 5th place finish on Vault.

Commenting of the achievements CEO of Gymnastics Ireland, Mr. Ciaran Gallagher said:

‘Great results in today’s apparatus finals at the 2017 Northern European Championships in the Faroe Islands for Team Ireland. While our women were unlucky to miss out on the medals the men stepped onto the medal podium on no fewer than 4 occasions with Daniel Fox hitting 3rd on Rings and Adam Steele as the top Irish competitor of the competition hitting silver on Pommel, bronze on High-Bar and gold on Parallel-Bars. Congratulations to the entire delegation.’
