Gymnastics Ireland brought the X-Factor to 'The Floor ' once again!

4th June 2019, Dublin: Gymnastics Ireland’s flagship participation event - ‘The Floor’, took place for the fourth consecutive year on Sunday 2nd June in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena. The headline display event comprised of 23 teams with over 400 gymnasts participating and a great crowd of 800 spectators out in force to support.

The Floor was a proper show in every way and saw a wide variety of performances from some of the best display teams in the country, including the 2019 Ireland's Got Talent finalist "Rebel Acro" from Ballincollig Gymnastics Club in Cork and RTE radio broadcaster Shay Byrne as MC.

This event celebrates participation, personal achievement, fun, friendship and team spirit and brings teams together from all over the country to celebrate gymnastics. At the end of the event every gymnast received a participation medal and a few teams were presented awards by Gymnastics Ireland CEO Mr. Ciaran Gallagher, which showed special appreciation for some performances that stood out on the day.

The awarded display teams were as follows...

• Concept/Creativity Award, Jr Team: Gymstars GC - Peak Technique
• Concept/Creativity Award, Sr Team: Finesse GC - Senior Display Team
• Costume Award, Jr Team: Finesse GC - Junior Display Team
• Costume Award, Sr Team: Finesse GC - Senior Display Team
• Audience Engagement Award: Gymstars GC - Small but Fierce
• Club Spirit Award: Finesse GC
• Social Media Awards: Arabian GC, Eccles GC, Ennis GC & Finesse GC

Attention now shifts to our flagship competitive event the 'National Series Super Championships' that will be held on 27th & 28th July 2019 in the National Indoor Arena, where you will see the best of the best across all ages and levels in every gymnastics discipline. Tickets will be available online two weeks before the event so stay tuned.
