Tumblers on podium at Scalabis Cup

6th July 2019: Team Ireland gymnasts stepped on the podium today at the 2019 Scalabis Cup final in Santarém, Portugal, with Molly Nightingale and Hugo Kinahan winning bronze in the Tumbling Open female category with a score of 119.600 and silver in the Tumbling U18 male category with a score of 62.600 respectively. In the U12 female group category, the team made up of Mia Rodgers, Aisling Carey, Zara Horan and Aisling Weston hit bronze.
Earlier today teammates Cliona McLaughlin ranked 8th in the U18 female qualifiers with counterpart Cian Hayes ranking 7th in the male category. In the U14 qualifiers category female tumbler Aoibhinn Tierney ranked in 8th place and Cillian Kelly ranked 3rd for the male category.
Commenting on the week’s competition Ciaran Gallagher, CEO Gymnastics Ireland said: ‘Huge congratulations to our Tumblers on a great performance at the 2019 Scalabis Cup, particularly to Molly and Hugo on their podium finishes with bronze and silver respectively. The results are great reward for all the team that travelled and also for coach Elaine Ryan.’
The Scalabis Cup has welcomed gymnasts from all over the world, including Olympic gymnasts since 2012 and it has established its place as an international benchmark trampoline competition ever since. More information and full results can be found via the official website http://scalabiscup.com/
