Mark Pollock Wrap Up Item Main

Gymnastics Ireland webinar “Turning Challenges into Opportunities” led by the esteemed motivational speaker, explorer and writer Mark Pollock, took place virtually yesterday Sunday 13th December where our members were treated to an inspiring Masterclass to close off the gymnastics year. This webinar was fully funded by our GymABLE Programme, supported by the Sport Ireland Dormant Account Funds (DFA).

During this one-hour live and interactive masterclass, Pollock highlighted one of his key messages saying “sometimes we have the luxury of choosing our challenges, sometimes our challenges choose us. What we do about them is what counts”. Throughout the masterclass Mark provided thought provoking ideas and concepts looking at different strategies on how to deal with our challenges, including charting a pathway through uncertainty, embracing change and building resilience to maintain motivation.

After a great learning session yesterday, Aimi Baker, Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager said; “I hope that everyone who attended the Masterclass today got something out of it for themselves, I know I did! It was an honour to have Mark present his experiences, thoughts and ideas with us about how to face up to challenges, confront the brutal facts of reality, and have the discipline to accept our choices and options, even if we don’t like them”.

GymABLE is Gymnastics Ireland’s inclusive programme targeted at providing gymnastics opportunities for people with disabilities, as well as increasing the awareness and understanding of disabilities and highlighting the huge benefits that doing gymnastics has for children with a disability.
