27th March 2022; The Gymnastics Ireland National Series All-Around Championships and Levels Competition took place this weekend at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena with 1250 gymnasts taking part across the disciplines of Men’s & Women’s Artistic, Acrobatics, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling with over 3000 spectators at hand supporting.
Our resident media company Hello Deer Media captured some spectacular photography of the event which can be viewed on our Facebook Page and equally impressive video highlights of the weekend, which you can see below or via our YouTube channel…
Commenting on the weekend Gymnastics Ireland Performance and Technical Manager Sally Johnson said:
“It's been absolutely fantastic to get back after COVID. I really enjoyed the weekend. We saw many young gymnasts, as young as seven, some six year-olds competing. And it was great to have everyone back in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena too.
What you saw today was the national development plan in action. So for Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling we had a qualifier to their National Championships starting at the very first NDP level going right through to FIG level and then in Women's Artistic we had the National Championships for the NDP levels 1 to 5...
We had three international trials, one for the European Championships, Rhythmic and Trampoline & Tumbling. Trials are really important, they prove that the standards that the gymnasts that are improving have, are the same that would be required to compete internationally and make finals...”
The complete list of results of the weekend can be found on the Gymnastics Ireland scores website.
Attention now shifts to the second National Series competitive event of the year on 21st & 22nd May also taking place here in the National Indoor Arena. Tickets and spectator information for this event will be available 2 weeks before the event on the Gymnastics Ireland website homepage.
