20.11.22 Jyväskylä, Finland; Ireland’s Halle Hilton has won gold on beam at the 2022 Northern Europeans Apparatus Final in Finland with a score of 13.066, whilst teammate Lily Russel, as one of the youngest competitors in the field, finished 8th in the same final after an unfortunate fall. Hilton also competed in the floor final finishing in 7th. This news comes on the back of yesterday’s bronze medal win in the All-Around event for Hilton.

Gymnastics Ireland’s CEO Mr Ciaran Gallagher added: "Congratulations to Halle on adding the gold on beam to he AA bronze from yesterday, these together with her 7th place finish on Floor have made the weekend in Finland very worth while for Halle herself and of course Team Ireland! Congratulations must also go to Lily Russell on making beam final and finishing in 8th place - despite counting an unfortunate fall this is all the more impressive when you consider Lily is a Junior competing in a senior field! Huge potential for the future for sure! As our team prepare to return home I would just like to again congratulate them on closing out a successful 2022 Northern Europeans!”

Attention now shifts to next week’s 29th World Age Group Tumbling Championships where the Irish Tumbling team will compete from the 23rd to 26th November in Sofia, Bulgaria.
