Hooton completes qualification at the 2022 European Championships

20.08.22 Munich, Germany; Irish Junior gymnast Niall Hooton has concluded the All-Around Junior qualification placing 59th with his best score of 13.700 on Vault at the 2022 European Championships. This was his second major international event after competing earlier this year in the European Youth Olympics with Team Ireland.
Hooton’s coach Andrew Smith said:
“Great to have Niall go out and hit 6 routines, we had 2 small but unfortunately costly mistakes, showing great character finishing strong on floor and pommel and produced a performance that didn't look out of place with the best in Europe.”
Gymnastics Ireland’s Performance & Technical Manager, Sally Johnson said:
“Well done to Niall on his first year of international competitions in both the Youth Olympic Festival and the Junior Europeans. Niall is showing great talent and skill and look forward to seeing him moving to Senior level this cycle!”
Gymnastics Ireland CEO Mr. Ciaran Gallagher added:
“Huge day today for Niall with his his first international for Ireland and his first Junior Europeans. Great experienced banked for the future! Congratulations to Niall, his club & parents!
