McClenaghan 1st, Steele 3rd & Montgomery 5th at Cairo WC Finals

19.03.22 Cairo, Egypt; Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan and Adam Steele claimed Gold and Bronze on pommel and floor respectively at the 2022 Cairo Artistic Gymnastics World Cup apparatus finals. McClenaghan hit 14.966 and Steele scored 13.933. Teammate Eamon Montgomery finished in 5th place on floor, this being his second ever World Cup event and the second international event of 2022 for all the Irish gymnasts.
Speaking about today’s results, Performance and Technical Manager Sally Johnson said:
‘Fantastic results from the 3 gymnasts competing today! A special well done to the team all making the finals, Eamon placing 5th and Adam and Rhys bringing home 2 medals! These gymnasts and National Coach Luke Carson have shown the qualities of High Performance in doing a job well done with no challenges standing in their way. Thank you to Conor McGovern and Will Banthorpe, the personal coaches to Eamon and Adam. Now the team will make their way to Baku for the 3rd and final World Cup to gain further points...'
