Commenting on the announcement, Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager Aimi Baker said:
“The World Gymnaestrada is the FIG’s biggest event in terms of participation, a non-competitive festival of sport which provides an amazing showcase for Gymnastics for All (GfA). This year there will be 18,800 participants from 50 countries, including Ireland, from around the globe taking part. We are delighted to have an Irish team travelling to this huge display event in Amsterdam this summer, and I am sure it will be an unbelievable experience for them, coaches and gymnasts alike.”
About the team
A diverse Irish team training in Dublin with a background in Acrobatic Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, and Rhythmic Gymnastics. The team’s age ranges from 11 to 27 and have a lot of experience with all different aspects of gymnastics.
About their routine
The team's routine will express their love for Irish Culture and heritage, in particular its impact of World Literature. It will follow one of the most famous books of fiction in the world written by an Irish author - Dracula which has its roots in Irish culture. The team hopes they can demonstrate this tale’s doomed love story through the lens of Irish culture and history.
Best of luck to the team in their final preparation for this event!
