The 2025 FIG Gymnastics for All (GfA) Colloquium took place last week (2nd - 4th April) in Baku, hosted by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. The event brought together 42 countries including Ireland, for an inspiring and enlightening conference where the Gymnastics Ireland Participation team presented the significant impact of its GymABLE inclusion programme in the disability gymnastics community.
Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager, Angela Griffin said:
"It is always such a positive experience attending the FIG GfA Colloquium. Listening and learning from other federations from all over the world is really inspiring. We have some amazing ideas to bring back to Ireland to continue to develop GfA. Having the opportunity to share Gymnastics Ireland’s disability gymnastics programme, GymABLE, was a huge honour and privilege."
Another major highlight of this year's event was the special GfA status under the patronage of UNESCO and its social impact, marking this a significant milestone for the worldwide GfA community. More on this news can be found in the official FIG announcement here...
Gymnastics Ireland Director of Participation, Inclusion and Club Development, Aimi Baker added:
“The FIG Gymnastics for All (GfA) Colloquium is a 4-day conference where the worldwide community of GfA gathers together to discuss challenges and issues, brainstorm solutions and create new ideas, all of which are important for us to be involved with. This event also provides us with an opportunity to present our work and programmes to a global audience and establish connections with other nations around the world”.
