About the Teams

The 44 Irish gymnasts, aged 10 to 17 years old will gather in Lisbon for the 5th FIG World Gym for Life Challenge, a GfA event that will see more than 2,000 gymnasts from around the world participating. Teams - 'Siamsa' and 'Draíocht - a touch of magic' will be the first to carry the Irish Flag under the new Gymnastics Irelands GfA International pathway.

Commenting on the announcement, Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager Angela Griffin said:

"This is an exciting opportunity for gymnasts to represent Gymnastics Ireland at FIG’s largest GfA display contest. We are delighted to have such a large Irish delegation travelling to this event in Lisbon, this summer, and I am sure it will be an unbelievable experience for coaches, and gymnasts alike. We hope their journey will inspire more GI clubs to get involved in International GfA display Events in the future”.

Leah Quigley, a gymnast from Team Siamsa added:

"It's a great opportunity to represent your country. It's such a huge honour, but it's even better as we are doing what we love, gymnastics. Working as part of a team, creating parts of the routines, the dancing, music, costumes, and makeup is so much fun! But what I'm really looking forward to are the new friends I'm going to make from all the other countries participating!!! It's going to be amazing"
