Gold on Beam for Russell at the 2023 Northern Europeans

27.11.23 Halmstad, Sweden; Ireland’s Lily Russell has won gold on beam at the 2023 Northern Europeans Apparatus Final in Sweden with a score of 12.533, whilst teammate Blathnaid Higgins finished 4th in the same final and 5^th in the vault final.

Russell also competed in the Uneven Bars final finishing in 10^th. Teammate Maeve McGuinness finished 8^th on vault and Jane Heffernan finished 8^th on floor.

Commenting on her experience, gymnast Lily Russell said: "I am really happy that I have achieved this and I’m happy to go out there and get some more international experience before I turn senior and I’m excited to get back into the gym and work some upgrades. I had a lot of fun and met a lot of new people.”

Gymnastics Ireland’s Head of Women’s Artistic Sandra Stevenson added: “Very proud of the whole team. Lots of new milestones achieved with gymnasts achieving senior representations, qualifying for finals and winning medals. Congratulations to the team coaches Colm and Inna and very well done to Lily and her gold medal!”
