Historic Bronze Medal for Chester Enriquez at the EYOF 2025

Osijek, Croatia - Team Ireland's Chester Enriquez wins historic Bronze Medal and is the first gymnast ever to win a medal at the European Youth Olympics Festival. 

Enriquez qualified in 7th place to Friday's Floor final with a 13.200. He bested his score with outstanding execution to a 13.566 which guaranteed him a Bronze Medal.

"I'm super happy with what I've achieved today, being the first gymnast from Ireland to medal at EYOF." commented Chester after the medal ceremony. "In general, it was just an amazing experience and I still can't believe it - being my first major international coming home with a medal. I just couldn't ask for more. Hopefully in vault tomorrow I will achieve the same - if even better."

Gymnastics Ireland's Performance & Technical Director Sally Johnson commented on Chester's achievement.
"A super achievement finishing 3rd on floor at the European Youth Olympic Festival. As the first Irish gymnast to win a medal at EYOF, he has made history — and done so as a product of the Gymnastics Ireland High Performance Squad Pathway. His performance is a clear reflection of the progress he's made through the national programme, and he remains firmly on track as a key prospect for this cycle. Congratulations to Chester, Origin Gymnastics Club, his coaches, and the entire HP team."

Chester's Personal Coach Conor McGovern commented on his performance:
"I'm super proud of Chester. He was able to handle the nerves at his first major international and implement the strategy which was planned out for him perfectly. Some slight steps forward on his first two tumbles and then being able to stick all the rest in his routine is just incredible work on the international stage. I know with his hard work, dedication and relentlessness towards excellence, this won't be the last time we see him on the international podium.".

The Men’s National Coach Sergey Sizhanov added "It was a great performance from Chester with a tiny step over the line from a hard combination and smashing his last four tumbles. Big thanks to his personal coach and GI for his not so easy journey to this performance!".
