Junior and Youth Pairs conclude 2026 Acrobatic World Championships

Gymnastics Ireland's Acrobatics Junior Women's pair and Youth Women's pairs conclude Acrobatic Gymnastics Junior World Championships and Acrobatics World Youth Competition in Pesaro, Italy. 

Junior women's pair, Emily McCarthy and Ava Guiney started qualifications on Wednesday September 17th with their balance routine scoring a 24.990. Youth pairs competed their balance routines the following day. Sophia Whelan & Maddison Somers scored 22.990 while Tara O'Neill and Clara Duffy scored a 24.560 in their first round of qualifications. 

Day 2 of qualifications saw the youth pairs' dynamic routines where Somers and Whelan scored 24.480 and O'Neill & Duffy scored a 25.710 both improving from day 1. Junior pair Guiney & McCarthy scored a 23.770 to finish out Acrobatic World Championships

"It’s been a tough week for our partnerships, with some huge categories and plenty of nerves to overcome. We’ve had a fantastic experience here and are taking home some great memories, experiences and knowledge that will help us continue to move forward, develop and prepare for future major international competitions.
The team have shown incredible support for one another throughout the week and have demonstrated huge potential. We are consistently achieving strong final positions and medals at the international events we attend, and now our focus must be on delivering that same quality of work when it matters most at the major competitions.
A huge well done to all of the team, our gymnasts, coaches and judge for a fantastic team effort. You should all be proud of the work and commitment you have shown this week.
