Teams and individual medal successes at 2026 Coimbra Gym Fest

Gymnastics Ireland's trampoline and tumbling teams had an eventful weekend down in Portugal at the 2026 Coimbra Gym Fest. 

Team Ireland have returned home after a successful Coimbra Gymfest for its trampoline and tumbling national team, bringing home medals across team and individual events in both disciplines, with a host of other semi-finalists, finalists, personal bests and a new national record.

In Tumbling, the 13-14 girls team brought home a bronze medal scoring 109.600, led by Lily Cafferky on a score of 36.800. In the senior men's category, Hugo Kinahan made final 1, while Cian Hayes completed two beautiful passes to take home the silver medal scoring 23.200 in his last international, concluding a fantastic career as a trailblazer for Irish tumbling.

There was further success for the trampoline team. In the U12 girls category, the Irish team brought home the silver medal with a score of 246.20. The team was led by Louise Carlin who won her first international medal with Ireland on Sunday, placing third scoring 45.10 to bring home a bronze!

Our 13-14 girls team also took home a silver medal, scoring 259.62, led by Fiadh Rogers (91.06) who progressed to the individual final of the category. Fiadh had an uncharacteristic fall early in her final routine, finishing in ninth place.

Our 17+ women's team also brought home the silver medal scoring 148.64, led from the front by Fionnuala Mulholland (51.69). Fionnuala and her team-mates Laoise Cox and Liam Talbot (17+ men) progressed to semi-finals, with Laoise scoring a personal best and new national record score of 53.03 to book her place in the final in second place. In a competitive field, she landed another strong routine to finish in fourth place on 52.02, capping off a successful weekend for the whole team.

Speaking about her competition, Laoise Cox said: "It was a huge relief to finish a good routine in semi finals after a difficult competition season. I was over the moon to see my score and hit a new PB and Irish national record. Being 0.5 off the podium in a great field makes me excited for what's to come for the rest of the year."

"Coimbra Gymfest has been another huge success for our Trampoline and Tumbling team and underlines the great progress we continue to make across all age groups. In one of the most competitive friendly internationals, our gymnasts have shown again that they can compete strongly on the world stage, making semi-finals and finals, and winning team and individual medals!

In Tumbling, Cian's medal-winning performance was a huge highlight, capping a fantastic career. He now heads into retirement and dedicates more of his time to coaching, helping to bring through the next generation of talent to follow in his footsteps.

In Trampoline, Laoise set a new Irish national record with a superb routine on Saturday evening, showing great composure, rhythm and height to score 53.03. Although she just missed out on the podium on Sunday, she can be extremely proud of her achievement. Her performance is just one example of what our gymnasts are capable of producing, and highlights the great future that lies ahead!"
