Rimini, Italy; Team Ireland’s Women’s Artistic Junior gymnast, Mimi Moloney completed qualifications today in Rimini, Italy.
Moloney finished 19th in the All-Around with a combined score of 45.998 at her first Junior European Championships. A huge achievement for Moloney!
Commenting on her performance today Mimi said:
“I’m really happy with my performance at my first Europeans, I’m delighted with my final place in the top 24.
There are always going to be elements I need to work on to improve and develop my skills and I plan along with my coaches to do this over the coming months.
I would like to thank Tash for her expertise not only this week but over the last number of years. Also to Emma Hamill and all who support me in Douglas Gymnastics. I would also like to thank Sandra, Colm and all at Gymnastics Ireland for their continued support. To Colin O’Shaughnessy of Elite Fitness who keeps me strong.
It takes a team and I’m thankful to all and my family who have helped to get me here!”
Personal Coach, Tash added:
“Unbelievable result for Mimi today, she went out and performed at her best, not letting the pressure of being an individual surrounded by teams get to her at all. I'm really proud of her, her hard work and determination got her here and it was great watching her enjoy doing what she does best.”
“Commenting on the competition today, National Coach, Sandra Stevenson said:
“Absolutely delighted for Mimi, Tash and the team of coaches at Douglas. Very proud of the mature and composed performances Mimi displayed throughout the competition today. It’s great to see the gymnasts develop through our squad pathways and successfully take the next step on their gymnastics journey!”
Gymnastics Ireland Performance and Technical Manager, Sally Johnson said:
“Well done to Mimi placing in the top 24! Congratulations to her coaches and Douglas Gymnastics Club in all the preparation for Mimi. We look forward to Mimi’s further development in the next cycle as she progresses through to Senior level.
Thank you to our National Coach Sandra Stevenson and all of our support team!”
Gymnastics Ireland CEO, Ciaran Gallagher added:
“Superb performance today for Mimi who displayed quality & clean high-level gymnastics to place among Europe’s coveted top 24 gymnasts. She had a superb competition all around if it was not for an unlucky fall on Beam she would have been close to a beam final. Well-deserved results for Mimi, her personal coach Tash and our National Coach Sandra. Mimi’s performance draws to a close the Irish involvement at this year‘s European championships. Huge congratulations to our entire team of men and women led by our Performance and Technical Manager Sally Johnson. As ever thank you to Sport Ireland and the Sport Ireland Institute for their ongoing support of the Gymnastics Ireland performance program.”
Well done and congratulations to all gymnasts, coaches and judges!
