8th March 2024, 20:19p.m. | International

Baku, Azerbaijan; Team Ireland Dominick Cunningham secured his place in the vault final today at the 2024 Baku World Cup placing 8th with a score of 14.216. Cunningham also competed on floor placing 13th with a score of 13.700. The vault final takes place on Sunday 10th March starting at 8am Irish time.

Commenting about today, Gymnastics Ireland National Coach Luke Carson said:

“Great to see Dom make the vault final. He made the choice to upgrade and that has served him well. A disappointing outcome for Rhys with an uncharacteristic hand slip on the pommel horse costing him any chance of a final. Eamon performed well, upgrades are in the making and this is exciting!”

Teammates Eamon Montgomery, Rhys McClenaghan, Emma Slevin, Halle Hilton, and Bláthnaid Higgins concluded competition today with the highest score of 13.833 on men’s floor for Montgomery ranking 12th and women’s vault for Higgins placing 11th with a score of 12.583, while Hilton placed 12th with a score of 12.800 on floor and Slevin placed 25th on beam with 11.833.

Well done to the gymnasts, coaches and judges who competed at this event!
