Youth Pairs win Silver and Bronze Medal at the 2026 Spelthorne Acro Cup

Team Ireland's women's Acro teams competed at the 2026 Spelthorne Acro Cup this weekend. Overall team results saw both youth pairs take silver and bronze on the podium. 

Three pairs of gymnasts competed on both days of qualifications and all made it through to finals on Sunday evening. Two youth pairs and one senior pair represented Ireland over the weekend. 

Emily McCarthy and Ava Guiney scored a 25.620 on day 1 qualifications with their balance routine. On day two of qualifications the pair scored 25.90 on their dynamic routine. During Sunday's final, the pair scored a 26.290 securing them the silver medal. 

Maddison Macy Somers and Sophia Whelan scored a 26.050 on day 1 of qualifications in their balance routine. During their dynamic routine on day 2 of qualifications the girls scored 25.680. The girls went on to win the bronze medal in youth scoring a 25.470.

Kirsten Brennan and Emma Furlong competed in the Senior Women's Pair. Day 1 of qualifications the girls scored 22.150 in their balance routine. Day 2, they scored 25.710 on their dynamic routine. The girls finished 4th during the Sunday final 25.860.

"I'm very proud of the girls this weekend, all the partnerships put some great routines out there and achieved some well deserved scores. It's a great start to the year for team Ireland and some great experience gained"
