Over the past few weeks, sport has been up front and center for the world to see. Artistic gymnastics, through the performances of Simone Biles and her US teammates (the 'Final 5' of Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian , Laurie Fernandez and Gabby Douglas), the gold winning Japanese team including the men’s All Around Champion, Kohei Uchimura and the medal winning performances of England's Max Whitlock has helped to promote the sport worldwide. In trampoline, there were the performances of the Belarusian Uladzislau Hancharou who claimed his country's first gymnastics gold medal and Canada's Rosie MacLennan who retained hers from London in 2012 and in Rhythmic, Margarita Mamun finally claimed a gold medal for Russia.
Global interest is now at an all time high and the history making appearances of Irish gymnasts, Kieran Behan and Ellis O’Reilly has helped focus that interest in gymnastics in Ireland too. So how can you get involved in our sport?
