Commenting on the achievements, Gymnastics Ireland CEO Mr. Ciaran Gallagher said: ‘We started 2018 by winning National Governing Body of the Year at the Irish Sport Industry Awards and now we have finished the year by winning the 'Inclusive National Governing Body of Sport Award' at the 2018 Cara Inclusion Awards in partnership with Sport Ireland for our GymABLE programme. This programme represents our investment and commitment to ensuring our sport is accessible to all by supporting our club network in providing the necessary training and programming support to cater for people with disabilities. My huge congratulations in particular must go to our Participation Manager, Aimi Baker who developed the programme and has driven it over the past 2 years to become what is now a national award winning programme. I'm very much looking forward to the continued roll-out of GymABLE in 2019 and beyond.’
Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager, Aimi Baker, was on hand to receive the award and said: ‘Last night was fantastic. I was so proud to stand on the stage and accept this award on behalf of Gymnastics Ireland and all our clubs. I’m really looking forward to the future of our GymABLE programme and what we can achieve together on our journey to create a fully inclusive NGB.’
