National Series – wrap up!

6th November 2022, 20:54p.m. | National

The National Series Gymnastics Team Championships took place this weekend in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena and saw over 1500 gymnasts from Acrobatics, Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling compete across the 2 days from intro levels all the way to FIG international levels including gymnasts from our National Squads from all disciplines.

To add to the excitement of the weekend, our gymnastics fans cheered and shared the joy of Gymnastics Ireland star Rhys McClenaghan during the historic moment on Saturday 5th November where he became the first ever Irish World Champion on pommel horse during the apparatus finals in the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool for the 2022 World Championships. Finals were broadcast live by RTÉ 2 and shown on the big screen of the Indoor Arena where over 1500 gymnasts, coaches and fans watched the smashing final pommel routine and medal ceremony where McClenaghan was crowned champion.

Attention now shifts to the upcoming GymSTART Challenge and GymSTART Competition on 27th Nov right here in the National Indoor Arena and 3rd & 4th December in the University if Limerick’s Sports Arena. Spectator and ticketing information for these events will be available in the coming weeks on our website and social media.

Huge congratulations to all the national team champions of 2022! - All Medal photos available here.
