2024 Highlights & 2025 - the Year Ahead...

As the Paris Olympic cycle closed the LA Olympic cycle opened.
2024 closed out the Paris cycle and was an historic year for our sport. Gymnastics Ireland hit record membership, record event entries, historic investment in programmes covering participation through to performance and of course Rhys McClenaghan became Ireland’s first ever Olympic gymnastics champion.

2025 represents the first year of the new LA Olympic Cycle.
In Q4 2024 we were actively engaged in a review of the various strategies and plans that guided us through the Paris cycle in order to build & improve for the LA cycle.
Following final consultation with our members and partners in Q1 2025 we will be launching new strategies that will guide our path towards LA 2028, all while continuing to roll out an exciting programme of national and international activities.
In 2025 we will:
- Launch our new Strategic Plan 2025 - 2028
- Launch our new Participation Strategy 2025-2028
- Launch the new discipline specific National Development Plans (NDPs)
- Launch our new Women in Sport (WIS) Strategy
- Launch our new Club Development Strategy
- Launch our new Membership Management and Communication System
- Deliver 10 events covering participation to performance levels catering to an anticipated 9.5K gymnasts and over 22K spectators
- Develop and roll out our new coach education structure/pathway
- Rollout ‘GI Exchange’ - our week long hybrid virtual & in-person annual club support conference
- Continue the roll out of inclusion programmes such as GymABLE and Women in Sport
- Participate in the ‘5th FIG World Gym for Life Challenge’ in Lisbon
- Rollout our new Gymnastic for All (GfA) Display mentorship programme
- Continued development and roll out of the Gym4TEENS programme
- Continue the roll out of the national squad and performance programme for the LA 2028 Olympic Cycle with further developments in Gymnastics Ireland's support service programme.
