2024 - The Gymnastics Year Ahead
31st January 2024, 18:25p.m. | National
2024 will be an exciting year for gymnastics in Ireland with our National and International events calendar catering for participation and performance that will give gymnasts further opportunities to develop.
In the first quarter of the year, the National Series Qualifiers through to the National Championships in March, are taking place at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin, for all gymnastics disciplines including Acrobatics, Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline and Tumbling. This is also the first JumpSTART Competition of the year.
The national events calendar continues with the GymSTART Floor and Vault competition in April, the National Series All Around & Apparatus Championships and the JumpSTART Competition in May for all 6 disciplines, to finish the season with our flagship display event 'The Floor' in June.
On the International stage, July will see an Irish team participating at the Gymnastics for All international event ‘EuroGym and European Gym for Life Challenge 2024’ from July 13th – 19th in Bodø, Norway.
During August, the 2x World Champion Rhys McClenaghan will compete for Team Ireland on pommel horse at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, who secured a quota spot in October last year. The Olympic qualification process has yet to be consolidated for gymnasts as the qualification route continues for gymnastics as well as many other sports, with the World Cup Series events starting next month.
The National Series events return in September with the National Team Championships for all 6 disciplines followed by the 2024 Northern European Championships which will be held here in Dublin and organised by Gymnastics Ireland.
The final gymnastics
events will take place in November with the National Series, JumpSTART
Competition, GymSTART Challenge and GymSTART
Floor & Vault Competition, to close out the year with the
2024 National Awards in December.
