What Keeps You Here? Women in sport campaign launched

Gymnastics Ireland is proud to announce the launch of What Keeps You Here, an initiative dedicated to keeping girls in our sport for longer, by putting a spotlight on what they love about gymnastics and inspiring others to stay involved.

Through our research and beyond, we asked girls and women involved in our sport "What keeps you here?" - because what keeps you here matters to us.

The campaign is the result of a mix of their experiences and stories, of which we selected just a few, with the goal to inspire this generation - and the next - to stay involved in the sport they love.

Thank you to all gymnasts, coaches and clubs who participated in this campaign and shared their stories with us.

Aimi Baker, Director of Participation, Inclusion and Club Development (DPICD), commented on the launch of the campaign:

"This was one of the most encouraging and uplifting initiatives I have worked on for Gymnastics Ireland. Visiting the clubs, having open and honest conversations with our gymnasts about their challenges in gymnastics but most importantly about why they love it and why they stay.
All the girls we spoke to were so enthusiastic and emphatic about trying to inspire others to stay. By focusing on their stories and experiences, we hope that other girls will be encouraged to stay and enjoy gymnastics.
We want girls to know that what they love about gymnastics and what they want to get out of their time in gymnastics really does matters to all of us. We want to work with them and support them to continue enjoying their journey in the sport they love.
We hope all our clubs will get behind this campaign and make real things happen... together!"

"What Keeps You Here?" was created in collaboration with Women in Sport UK. It consists of a hero video, six case study videos, and a number of resources for clubs to print and use within their communities.
