14th April 2024; The GymSTART Floor and Vault Competition took place this weekend in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Dublin. A record high of 2000 gymnasts from 31 clubs performed across the two days, this representing an huge increase of 800 gymnasts from last years’ event alone and a record audience attendance of 4800.
These huge GymSTART numbers come off the back of Gymnastics Ireland closing 2023 and coming into 2024 with our highest ever recorded membership of circa 37K direct members and a record number of registered clubs.
See below highlight videos from the weekends event. To see more photos of the event visit the Gymnastics Ireland Facebook page.
A GymABLE Inclusion Competition also took place in conjunction with our GymSTART event where we saw a mixture of levels from first timers through to more experienced gymnasts with this being part of our continued commitment to providing opportunities for people with disabilities. The GymABLE gymnasts performed routines on both Floor and Vault and from here on these gymnasts will have the option to continue along the GymABLE pathway or transfer into the GymSTART programme.
Our GymSTART programme is designed to drive participation in the club, school or education setting by creating a safe, progressive, fun & inclusive environment for all. There are 2 main events in this programme:
- The GymSTART Floor & Vault Competition
- The GymSTART Challenge.
