Ireland display teams awarded Bronze at the FIG World Gym for Life Challenge 2025

Lisbon, Portugal - Ireland's display teams Siamsa and Draíocht - A touch of Magic were awarded Bronze for their outstanding performances at the 5th World Gym For Life Challenge, held in Lisbon from 21st to 26th July 2025.

The World Gym for Life Challenge is an event for groups of gymnasts of all ages and from any kind of gymnastics. Each group performs a display type routine, which gets evaluated by experts and awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze.

It was the first international appearance for team Draíocht from Douglas Gymnastics Club. The team brought their magic touch to the stage, engaging the whole MEO Arena audience in their performance. They entered the category Gymnastic and Dance - Small groups, performing in the contest on Wednesday July 23rd.

Arklow Gymnastics Club's Siamsa made display gymnastics history last year as they were the first team to represent Gymnastics Ireland at Eurogym, in Bodo, Norway. Their unique performance of gymnastic, acrobatics, and dance brought Irish music, culture and dance into the spotlight. This year, the team presented a new routine for the World Gym for Life Challenge. Siamsa performed on Friday July 25th in the Gymnastics & Dance - Large groups category.

Outside the main contest, Siamsa and Draíocht performed a show routine at the Pala Pavilhão de Portugal, one of the best pieces of architectural art of Portugal, to the delight and awe of the crowds.

"Congratulations to the Irish teams Draíocht and Siamsa as they took to the floor at the 5th FIG World Gym for Life Challenge and received a Bronze award. The standard at this world event was phenomenal, but our Irish teams held their own and received such positive reviews from evaluators, feedbacks and the audience.
It was such an honour to see the Irish flag beside all the other flags from around the world. The Irish teams embodied Gymnastics Ireland's values at best. All the gymnasts did themselves, their clubs and Gymnastics Ireland proud."
