New Coaching Policy and Coaching Transfer Journeys

We are pleased to share Gymnastics Ireland’s new Coaching Policy for Cycle 5, together with our new Coaching Transfer Journeys guide. This is a significant update to our coach education framework, designed to create a more flexible, accessible, and connected coaching system for our clubs and coaches.

Some of the key developments include:

• More flexible and modular coach education
• Less duplication when coaches add new disciplines
• Recognition of existing qualifications and prior learning
• Clearer opportunities to transfer between disciplines
• Greater use of blended and online learning
• Clearer supervision and scope of practice
• Increased opportunities for ongoing CPD and coach development

A key addition is the new Coaching Transfer Journeys guide, which gives existing coaches a simple visual route from their current qualification and shows the learning required to transfer into another discipline.

Now open for booking: Coaching Policy Information Sessions

Bookings are now open for our free online information sessions on the new Coaching Policy and the Coaching Transfer Journeys guide.

Each session runs on Zoom for one hour and gives an overview of the new Policy and Transfer Journeys, the key changes for clubs and coaches, and time for your questions. All six sessions cover the same content, so each person only needs to attend one:

• Monday 28th September 10.00am – 11.00am
• Monday 28th September 9.00pm – 10.00pm
• Wednesday 30th September 10.00am – 11.00am
• Wednesday 30th September 9.00pm – 10.00pm
• Thursday 1st October 10.00am – 11.00am
• Thursday 1st October 9.00pm – 10.00pm

Who should attend: any club staff, head coaches, or anyone responsible for coach development in your club.

How to book:

• Booking for yourself: enrol in the course, then choose your session.
• Booking for others in your club: a club contact can book several places at once using the bulk purchase option in the cart. Each attendee will receive their access by email so they just need to login to their LearnUpon account and can choose their own session.

Bookings will be checked against membership, and any that cannot be matched to an affiliated club will be cancelled. Your Zoom joining link will be in your registration confirmation email and on your course page in LearnUpon.
