Gymnastics Ireland Score System Operator
Gymnastics Ireland (GI) is one of the largest participation sports and most successful high-performance sports in Ireland.
With 40k direct fee-paying members from 90 member clubs we operate one of the largest sport events programmes in the country covering national and international events. These events are primarily based at the state-of-the-art Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin in addition to other suitable venues nationwide.
To support the events judging/assessor programme we have developed a live scoring system. This bespoke system operates on SQL with a web browser frontend; we are also in the process of seeking to update the system to make it as user friendly as possible for both operation and end users.
GI is looking for suitably qualified & experienced individual(s) to maintain & operate our score system. We are willing to consider several approaches to this including individual contractors, self-employed IT professionals, service providers companies or possible PT employment to resource our need. While knowledge of gymnastics would be helpful, it is not essential.
GI annual event programme summary:
- 8-10 events per year
- Usually Weekend events with multiple separate competitions operating at the same time as per gymnastics disciplines e.g. women’s, men’s, trampoline etc.
- Set-up typically on a Friday with competition running Saturday & Sunday followed by takedown Sunday evening. Larger events may require additional set-up and competition day(s).
- Physical layout of power cabling & pack-up of the same is assisted by our rigging company as per pre agreed floor plans.
The following duties are part of the score system operator’s role:
- Pre event liaising with Head of Disciplines (HOD) to determine specifications and scoring requirements for event
- Technical and physical set-up of score system and approx. 50 judge terminals in the arena
- Full operation and monitoring of system and network during competition
- Technical support during the event
- Analyse and finalise scores for disciplines during the events
- Technical shut-down following event
- Pack-up and ready system for delivery to warehouse
Remuneration/fee will be discussed directly with interested parties.
Those interested should contact GI Events Executive, Sarah Tierney via email sending a CV/information on IT skills/qualifications/experience to [email protected] by Friday 20th December.
